I was the same as you ... I hated the idea of social networks...
what was the point of other people knowing what I'm doing.

I started with last.fm years ago, back in the day before corporate greed. last.fm was awesome ,place to share, and discover music.
The music listening stats were awesome!

Then the original founders started looking for sponsors... they found CBS, WTF? CBS scattered the entire page with "paris hilton" gossip, and miss world junk... and all sorts of idiotic ads that had nothing to do with music.

I left last.fm when the original founders left... I mean how can you develop a super music site, and then leave?

Anyway... after that just out of the blue I signed up for twitter.
turned out to be a whirl. real fun.
then facebook followed, which was a dissapointment.

I am not that bothered by Virb. Why would I want to use Virb as my social portal when I can just use twitter for twitter. I can see the point if you spread your self across many social networks so a portal adds ease of use but doesn’t tweet deck, tweet glide and other apps already link facebook, myspace and twitter?

Mainly a twitter user I would love for twitter to enable css customization, the limit could easily be set aside of 140 characters by including the blog feature that tweet glide uses but Twitter users are very protective over the simplicity I was shouted out of a tiny chat for proposing those very features.

Ill be a Twitter user till some thing better comes along for me its not Virb, currently I might have to use twit pic, to post images but eventually it will all be integrated. Virb might be a good step but its not there yet.

Well not anti but not for myself.

Facebook: I really wasn't into social Networks at first till my friends were telling me about it so I check it out in 2006 I love the version and thought it was great. Till Facebook kept changing the versions without telling us they are going to do it first. The last version is the biggest dumb mistake ever. Facebook NEEDS to get idea's from the users and make them cause they do what they think is good but is making Facebook fail. I wouldn't bet if Facebook will be gone in the next 1 and half cause they don't listen to the users.
MySpace: I like Myspace but it was confusing. I didn't know hot to put a profile picture, background, music or video till my girl friend showed me how. Now its really a dead place. I have already deleted/came back 3 times cause I just want to talk to some people. I only have 27 friends on there but never talk to all of them.
Twitter: Thought it was the greatest thing ever but till then 140 letters got annoying. I Need 160 cause I always type long messages on my phone or the stupid message box. There is always problems and most of them is kicking me off when I just signed in. Why would you kick someone that just signed into twitter when you kick the person that has been online the longest off. Doesn't make sence.
Virb: Placehold was taling about with Jalokim and I thought hmmm this sound really cool so I signed up and I loved it. CSS and HTML, and linking to other social networks is great. I hope they kick Facebook's butt.
