Nokia's design by community project coming to a close 95yo3b
Nokia set out with a giant project March 2010. Now its coming to a close. What to know the fruits of designing via the community?

Design by Community.
A project launched by Nokia early March 2010, all held on the converstations.nokia.com website.

The project is simple ... Nokia asked its community what the next new concept Nokia must we like.
Every week there was a new concept element being discussed and drawn together by the users of nokia conversations.

These are just some of the parameters of a future community built nokia model.

Display: 4-inch capacitive 16:9
Shape: Monoblock
Dimensions: 60 x 110 x 6-10mm
Extras: Auto lens cover
Material: Aluminium
Finish: Soft touch
Open source operating system with unlimited multitasking.
The DbC OS 1 sports temperature and location sensors so your device constantly monitors your whereabouts and the local conditions.
The majority of OS functionality responds to touch control.
Support for 802.11 n/b/g wireless standards.
USB 3 connectivity.
HDMI connectivity.
Cable charger.
Dolby Surround Sound.
4X optical zoom
Dual LED and Xenon flash
HD video capture
Instant image capture

The design team are at the last stage of concept design... naming the baby.

Over the last month suggestions have been polled and a short list has been posted today.
Some of my favorites include
U series

2 weeks remain for final touch ups and choosing the best design concepts.

I think this is a great move from Nokia... get the users building their phones... that way there won't be complaints.

This new model looks really promising...
it doesn't have off the hook technology like the N8 that is coming shortly... so it seems the users of conversations nokia want a jam packed phone but at an affordable price.

what are your views?
